I came across this site and thought that I would share my interest in how 'artists' combine their creative practice within the paradigms of traditional research spheres, Universities. The artist as researcher is not a new phenomena as many artists have successfully combined their pursuit of visual knowledge production for many a millennia outside the University system. However, artistic research and the practice of visual knowledge has found a pathway within the 'system' and in doing so, new knowledge has become somewhat of a 'tacit' argument.
This site, entitled, "Art and Research Colliding", by Teemu Maki a Finnish artist who works across the fields of art, philosophy and politics provides a great platform for the artist as researcher, who is either exploring personal ideas on the question of what constitutes creative research | practice led research or as an educational, research resource. This site may assist the early career creative researcher on their journey towards knowledge production where meaning and understanding is said to be found through and within the process of 'practice' led research. I found this site to be a thought provoking read, educational and relevant and, I believe a strong resource for those who are interested in exploring what is and what can be Artistic Research. https://www.researchcatalogue.net/view/49919/49920 #painting in the expanded field #practice based research #materiality and painting # abstraction
